“… God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
Often when people talk about generosity they are thinking about sharing money and belongings but generosity is bigger than just that. Generosity can also be about sharing your time and abilities with others. We are going to be thinking about generosity this term as our value.
Generous people often say that they receive much more than they give. Perhaps this is because when someone is generous to us, it makes us want to be generous in return.
Have a think about these questions:
- How have you been generous?
- How did someone respond to your generosity?
- How do you show generosity to someone you finder harder to get along with?
- What kind of person would you prefer to have as a friend?
- Who is the most generous person you know? Why did you pick them?
The Bible story of The Good Samaritan is in the New Testament. It tells us about a man who helped a stranger in need. Read the story of The Good Samaritan
Inspired by the Spirit life
Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, life in all its fullness”. (John 10.10)
This key verse underpins all that we aim to do at Nailsworth CE Primary School as we seek to help children grow in all areas of their life. Rather than just creating ‘learners’, we want to help them to develop a spirited approach to life, aimed at enabling them to fully engage in their relationships with themselves, each other and the world. We want them to leave our school as well-developed human beings with the right attitude to life, ready for the next stage of their growth.
Our school vision: Together, inspired by the challenge, summarises this aim and is underpinned by practical Christian Values. The chosen values help develop a spirited atmosphere in the school and children are encouraged to use these values throughout their day to make the most of all the opportunities open to them.
Christian Value Badges
These are awarded to children who demonstrate how they are taking these values into their lives. We love to hear how your children are living these values at home too, so do please write in to your child’s class teacher to share your stories and help us celebrate these values together.
